Yep you, read it right, IL2 for console.
I downloaded and played the demo, and I must say I wasn't disappointed.
Ofcourse I was prepared for arcade style flying, but there are two harder difficulty levels too, where a small jerk on that tiny xbox controller stick will instantly send you in a spin. Ofcourse there is no hardcore stuff like engine management, it's just gear in out and throttle and firing controls, but in the harder difficulty levels you can surely sense back the realistic flight behaviour we know from the pc version. Arcade difficulty is rediculously easy (for us), think accelerating with wep from 300 to 700 kmh in 5 seconds), but I already saw xbox die hards complaining that ground targets are too difficult to hit in arcade mode, which is really a laughable comment if you're used to pc il2, I didn't find it hard at all in the medium mode

It looks awesome, I guess this is how BoB will look like, because the ground just looked stunning.

In the demo there is a short tutorial mode above the English coast, and two SP missions, one bob, and one in what I think was russian countryside(didn't pay attention to the briefing, sorry

)
The full version will have:
- 6 theatres of war: Battle of Brittain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily, the battle of the Bulge and Korsun
- Over 40 flyable planes
- Over 50 missions
- 16 player multiplayer in 4 modes: dogfight, team death match, ground strike and capture the airstrip
Soooo, if you have an xbox, the demo is sure worth downloading and trying, and I guess for xbox standards this will be a s close as it gets to a sim.
